These past few weeks were really fast. Working in a telco has its perks as well, like not feeling like you're actually working and waking up on a Friday and thinking it's still Thursday. I'm really enjoying work, and I couldn't imagine myself somewhere else. Pressure's building up and I have to be prepared for the heavy workload ahead of me. Some people noticed I lost some weight, probably because of my loss of appetite. I hope I get my appetite back soon. I don't want to look like an anorexic.
Last week was our annual Pops outing. I was happy that Majet and Anna were able to make it! I bought a bottle of Jose Cuervo (which I got off my first pay, eek!) and got myself drunk on the first night. I spent the next two days sleeping everytime I'd get the opportunity, that's why I was MIA most of the time. But besides that, I was happy to be with my Pops loves.
Okay so I've been debating with myself on whether I should cut my hair or grow it. My mom pointed at some model girl on TV and I just loved her hair. So I impulsively decided that I want to cut my hair short again. I want something funky and nice, and something to go with my new glasses (which I will probably get within the week). After hours of googling websites, I finally found my top 3:
I found other hairstyles which I really LOVED but weren't really "feasible". I had to consider my hair texture, face shape, as well as the maintenance. I always want a low-maintenance haircut. Here are some of the ones I loved but aren't really "feasible" with my hair:
I especially love the one in the middle. *sigh*
Anyway, I hope to have my haircut within the week. I'll probably take a vanity shot of myself with new hair and glasses. Woot!
Now if only I could have my hair colored without damaging it...
So I am being pasaway right now, blogging at work. I'm waiting for my VLC Media Player + Mozilla Firefox downloads and ripping a CD containing a radio ad. In the meantime, I decided to blog because I never found the time to blog at home.
I woke up this morning, thinking it was Thursday. Days have been really fast, and I see it as something positive. I've been busy doing write-ups and other small tasks for certain marketing projects and events. Right now, I have to finish making a sample layout for a small site they want to develop.
Yesterday was my first field exposure. We went to Hit Productions in Makati to record a radio ad. It reminded me of my RADIPRO class which was, to some extent, enjoyable. I'm loving my work, but my heart still longs for photography, video production, web design, layouting and graphic design, I'm hoping that one of these days, I'd get to do at least one of those for a project. I'm definitely crossing my fingers. :)
I was given free movie premiere tickets to Star Trek, which was last night. (Marketing perks, yes?) I invited EJ to watch the movie with me, even though I really wasn't an avid fan of Star Trek, nor have I watched it before on television. Surprisingly, it was good! It wasn't a hardcore sci-fi film, and I just loved the comedy squeezed in between all the action.
Anyway, I better end this before my boss catches me. Back to work!
I started work last Monday, and it has officially been a week. So far, I'm really enjoying it! There's 18 of us (one hasn't shown up yet) from Ateneo, La Salle and UP. This past week was just some sort of orientation, which included a lot of lectures and briefings. We'd be deployed to our respective divisions on Monday. I'm assigned to the Prepaid Marketing division, and I couldn't be more happier about it. :D I don't think it's too far from ComArts, since I'd also be dealing with advertising and promotions, which includes commercials and what not.
The facilitator mentioned that we are now "SunRisers" which I found very ironic, since I am not, by any chance, a morning person. Time to fix my body clock!
My fellow MT's are really fun to be with, and we've immediately bonded as a group. Last Thursday night, we went out for dinner and a few drinks (except for Ate Cel who had to be somewhere else). We decided to have lunch, dinner and other activities whenever possible. :D
SMTP Batch 2 (without Cel and James) We're such a happy bunch :p
So far, I'm just really, really loving my job. :D Thank God! And thanks to Majet for offering an egg for my prayers. :3
We had a blast in Batangas last weekend! I wasn't able to go to KA's party though. :( It was in Marikina and we had to be at Robert's place in Las Pinas ASAP. Unfortunately, we left late, around 8AM the next morning. Vistamar in Anilao was not what we expected; there was no shoreline and we had to rent a small boat to get to the islands with nice beaches. (Not to mention I saw my INTPHIL professor there @_@ As well as an upper batch classmate in CWTS! Hello Lasallians!) We went island-hopping (technically) since the first island did not accept us because they were "fully booked", not to mention they charged us 500 pesos per head. No damn way. On the other hand, the second island seemed uninhabited, so we tried their beach. Turns out it wasn't so "uninhabited" because the beach was swarming with transparent jellyfishes! Badit got stung first, and soon, all the others who got in the water felt it too. So we left and ended up in Sombrero Island where we stayed for a few hours--without any shade. They wanted us 500 fucking pesos for a table! But we loved the place. It was my first time to almost be (literally) thrown by large waves against large sea rocks. It was exciting, scary and painful. EJ and everyone else had serious sunburns and red jellyfish bites, and surprisingly, I didn't. Weird. "Balat-kalabaw" ata ako. Two days after I got home, I noticed my shoulders stung a little bit. Sunburn! The skin on my shoulders and my face are also chaffing. It sucks, but I love it. Can't wait for the Pops outing!!! :D
We're leaving for Batangas tomorrow, at dawn. I'm leaving home at around 6PM today to go to KA's birthday party (Rockband and booze! Ooh yeah!) then we're heading to RB/Greffy's house to settle in for the night. This is going to be my last gimik before I start working on Monday. I'm nervous, a bit excited. I hope it's exactly what I expected it to be. I really miss school. I miss ComArts! I especially miss working under Ms. Sibayan, Sir Groyon and Miss Diaz (I don't think you've really experienced ComArts when you've never been under them!) If I could just turn back time, I'd want to repeat my whole college experience. :) Gone were the days when course card day comes and you won't have to worry about anything for a few weeks. Oh well. :P
Bye! For now! :D Batangas, here we come :D
Edit: I forgot to mention that I've completed my pre-employment requirements AT LAST. Hurrah for me!
EJ accompanied me to Carriedo to get my NBI clearance today. I loved the rain, and commuting with him made it fun, despite getting mud and water all over our feet (or HIS feet. I was wearing sneakers). We took a jeep to Taft, and an LRT to Carriedo station. Puddles galore! But I missed being in Quiapo so much that I didn't mind. Getting an NBI clearance wasn't so bad. The place was airconditioned and weren't many people (either due to the rain or because it was already late in the afternoon). Afterwards, we ate tukneneng and kwek-kwek in our favorite stall near Hidalgo Street (and hoped not to get any form of disease from it haha). I met up with my dad after, while EJ made his way home.
I just remembered, my mom was watching Jackass yesterday and she was AMUSED. Dear God! Yeah, it's funny, but don't expect me to sit down through the whole show. She did. @_@
I was also looking for my original birth certificate last night, and I saw my mom and dad's transcripts. My mom was such a nerd! She was a Cum Laude in college and all her grades were 1-point-somethings (equivalent to 4.0 in DLSU) and her lowest was a 2.5. WTF. Well, she isn't so social, compared to my dad. She's quite shy around new people and my dad says she's the type who won't say a thing unless you approach her first. (So not me!) My dad on the other hand, changed schools thrice (first was in Cebu, second in Dipolog, and the one he graduated from was here in Manila). He then took Law after a few years. I asked my dad about this and he revealed that he actually took Nursing first (I can't imagine him being a nurse, really!) and changed his course when he changed schools. His failures were due to absences. Instead of going to class, he and his friends would drink. HAHAHAHA. Why the hell does that sound so familiar?! =)) I guess I'm a balanced child then. I got a bit of my mom and dad in me. More from my dad though. :))
So I'm making an online list of my requirements that I need to follow-up/fix by the end of this week:
Medical Check-up Drug test SSS Application BIR 1905 Form NBI Clearance BDO Bank Account Application (in Rob Galleria)
Darn. Only a few days of my "mini-vacation" left. My brother, by the way, went home to the province the other day, and due to his excitement, left without waking me up and kissing me goodbye. Pfft. Yeah, I understand his whole "growing up" phase, but he's still my baby brother. Haha. I'm sure he'd be taller than me in a few years' time. I'm so envious of him though. I hope I can go home to Dapitan for this year's fiesta. :( I miss eating lechon and drinking by the beach. Hahaha!
On another note, the weather today was AWESOME (Barney Stinson voice) but it would've been more awesome-r if our house was a bit more ventilated. But I still love our new place because it's close to almost everywhere (the City Hall's literally less than a block away, so BIR and SSS and other offices are relatively near, as well as the MRT station, Rockwell, Glorietta, etc., plus it's a jeepney ride away from Taft!) Besides that, I can visit Banana and Booby anytime. Their houses are like a trike ride away from mine. :D
I was checking my old email a few days ago, and I saw that QTV sent me an interview invite. They're looking for writers/segment producers and this was exactly the job I was looking for (and I would've died to have a few months ago). Anyway if you know people who might be interested for this position, just tell me. I could forward their resumes to the person who contacted me. :) It's funny that some emails regarding job opportunities ended up in my Spam Mail. So I suggest checking your Spam Mail for any important emails. :) Kbye!
Gave Misty a bath today. Here's what she looks like all wet (and grumpy):
Her color darkens a lot when she's wet. She's almost chocolate brown. I'm glad I don't get much scratches from her anymore. She's turning 6 months next week. :3 She's gonna be a big, lazy, snobbish cat. Woot!
